Simple Guide to FCP X: How To Add Effects in 3 Steps

There are two broad categories of effects in Final Cut Pro X: Inspector effects and Effects Browser effects.
I’ve written previously about how to use Inspector effects to create a picture-in-picture effect, among many other effects available to us in Final Cut Pro. In this article, I want to show you how to apply an effect to a clip, modify that effect, temporarily turn that effect on or off, or delete it entirely.
This is a basic tutorial about Apple Final Cut Pro X, professional video editing software. However, if video editing is new to you, consider Wondershare Filmora for Mac . This is a powerful but easy-to-use tool for users just starting out. Download the free trial version below.

How to Apply Effects to Video in Final Cut Pro X
Find and apply an effect
Here is our clip - a fearsome polar bear.
To apply an effect, first select the clip in the Timeline.
Then, click this icon in the Toolbar to open the Effects Browser (or type Cmd + 5).
The Browser, like all the effects browsers, lists categories of effects on the left, a search box at the bottom to use for searching for the names of effects, and effects for each category on the right.
Here, for example, I’ve selected the Blur category, with my cursor near the Gaussian blur effect. (Gaussian blur is the best effect to use when you want a clip to look blurry.)
To apply an effect, do one of two things:
- Drag the effect from the Browser onto the clip you want to change.
- If the clip, or clips, are selected, double-click the effect in the Browser to apply it.
Modify an effect
To modify an effect, click this icon in the Toolbar to open the Inspector (or type Cmd + 4).
Click the Video tab in the Inspector. Effects from the Effects Browser are always listed at the top of the Inspector.
Grab a slider and drag it to see what happens. For example, to make an image blurrier, drag the Amount slider to the right. To lessen the effect, drag it to the left.
Disable and delete an effect
To temporarily disable an effect, without deleting it, click the blue box so that it turns gray.
To enable an effect, click the gray box so it turns blue again.
To delete an effect, click the name of the effect - in this example: Gaussian - and press the big Delete key.
The effect will be deleted from the selected clip.
Extra credit
You can apply, modify, even delete the same effect to multiple clips by first selecting all the clips you want to change in the Timeline then adding, changing the settings, or deleting an effect in the Inspector.
Summary
The process of applying effects is the same for all effects you apply from the Effects Browser. In future articles I’ll show you how to use this technique to create a wide variety of different effects in Final Cut Pro X.

Now, is there any Premiere transition you like? If you have picked one, now let’s to add it to Premiere Pro. Here are few easy to follow steps for your Premiere Pro transition effects.
Step 1: Go to Effects panel
Go to Premiere Pro interface and select Effects panel from available options. Now from the available transition folders, pick the one that suits your project editing needs. The types of numbers of transitions available in effects panel will depend upon the version of Premiere Pro that you have installed in your system. Some of the most common transition effects are listed below:
- Zoom: Zoom transition helps to work on a selected potion of screen and it brings scene in or out in a selected proportion from whole screen.
- Slide: In this sliding motion type transition effect, one scene floats over another.
- Wipe: This one is quite interesting where one shot complete replaces the selected another shot while travelling from one portion of the frame to another.
- Iris: The iris transition effect is a newer one where an artificial effect is created to reflect the actual opening and closing motion of camera iris during shooting.
- 3D Motion: Such type of transition effects tries to manipulate selected clips in the space. For instance, if you apply flip over transition in this 3D motion category then one clip will simply flip over screen in such a manner that secondary clip below it gets revealed in appealing manner.
- Dissolve: In this type of transition effect, one scene completely melds into another scene. You can describe such type of blends with terms like fade out and fade in from or to a bank image.
Effects folders usually contain stylistically similar kind of transitions, but the result different appearances are on screen.
Step 2: Add transition to Premiere Pro
Now click on your desired transition and hold for a while; drag it on the video that you want to edit in the clip panel. Drop your selected transition in the specified position of the video clip bar. These transitions can be easily placed at starting position of lip, between overlapping portion of video clips as well as at end of the clip.
Step 3: Make adjustment
Now click on the left and right edges of transition and then drag them to make extended or shortened as per need. Note that, every transition use to have default time length so you can adjust their positions accordingly.

Ollie Mattison
Mar 27, 2024• Proven solutions
Most Smartphones capture videos in the MP4 file format that is compatible with nearly all video editing apps and media players. In addition, iPhones and Android phones are also equipped with microphones that enable you to record sound alongside the video. Storing all the videos you create on your phone’s SD card can be difficult, as a single MP4 file can easily occupy more than a gigabyte of storage space. Converting an MP4 file into MP3 is a great way of conserving space on your memory card if you only want to save its audio. So, in this article, we are going to take you through some of the best MP4 to MP3 apps for iOS and Android devices.
Best Free MP4 to MP3 Apps for Android Devices
Recording videos in high resolution is no longer a far-fetched dream because there are quite a few models on the market capable of producing crispy-sharp images. Converting a video file into an audio file doesn’t require too much effort because there are quite a few third-party apps that let you accomplish this task in just a few moments. Here are some of the best MP4 to MP3 apps for Android devices.
1. Video to MP3 Converter

Video to MP3 Converter features both Simple and Advanced MP3 conversion modes so that you can have complete control over the audio extraction process. The app provides support for MP4, WMW or AVI video file formats among numerous others, while its Video Cutter tool enables you to remove all segments of a video clip you don’t want others to see. Video to MP3 converter also features the audio cutting tool that lets you create a new ringtone for your phone effortlessly. You can also control the bitrate of the audio files you’re making because the app lets you generate files with bitrates that vary from just 48 kb/s to 320 kb/s.
2. MP4 to MP3 - Convert Video to Audio
Price: Free
Converting MP4, AVI or MKV video files into MP3s is a fun and easy process. In addition, this app lets you add metadata to each new MP3 file you create which makes organizing huge music libraries painless. The batch conversion feature enables you to convert multiple MP4 files into MP3s at the same time. Even though the MP4 to MP3 app is free, getting rid of ads currently isn’t possible.
3. Video to MP3 Converter
Price: Free
Video to MP3 Converter is compatible with all devices running on Android 4.0 or later versions of the OS. You can use it to convert all video files on your phone to audio files, in just a few steps. 4. MP3 Video Converter
